My name is Gemma Salvestro and I am 29 years old. I have been riding horses since I was 5 and compete in many disciplines; showing, breed shows, showjumping, and eventing.
At the moment, I have 4 horses, plus 2 out on lease: Primrose Park Top Of The Morn, Rivington Puff, Timarron Cottage Truffles, and Asham Mint. I have broken in all my horses myself and have done all the training for them to be successful at all big shows across the country both at international, national, and royal shows and HOTYs.
I love giving back to the sport by judging at Ag and Breed shows, being the Assistant Publicity Officer on the SA Welsh Society Committee, and the Horse Convenor of the Strathalbyn Agricultural Show.
We have to get to competitions between 2am and 5am every weekend and it is always FREEZING. My mum, friend and I are always trying to take multiple jumpers and stealing the horse’s wool rugs but the ORORO wear has been a life changer and now I can happily sit in any condition at competitions and be toasty warm!
Reason to join the ORORO Squad
It seemed like the most reliable heated product that I could find after researching a few. It also looks fashionable while being effective which is a hard combination for some brands to achieve.
What’s your favorite thing about ORORO?
My favourite thing is that they are so simple and easy to use and work very well! ORORO really lives up to every claim they make, and ensures the product keeps you warm in every possible environment. One of the big things in my sport is looking professional and keeping to the fashion trends. ORORO fits those requirements!
What are the 3 best words to describe yourself?
Dedicated, passionate, and horse loving.
Please share a short story about an important challenge that you've overcome (in your life, hobby, or profession):
Competing as an Equestrian is a constant journey of highs and lows, it’s all about one judge’s opinion and needing your horse to perform perfectly on the day. I’ve been in First Place at an Eventing competition after Dressage, performed well to stay in First in Showjumping to then make a mistake in Cross Country and forget to jump a jump on the course and was eliminated.
It was an absolute struggle to pick myself up from the devastation and take away from it what I could. My horse was amazing, and I won’t make the mistake again!
