Kathleen "Fitzie" Cowing

I'm a mom, teacher, volunteer,  soccer coach, and someone who should probably learn to say no — but I'm not too great at it yet!  I live in the town where I grew up, hoping to give my kids a childhood full of fun traditions as well as new experiences.  With our proximity to the shores of the Cape, the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont, and a lot of amazing things to explore in Boston, we are always trying to make the most of our surroundings.  Most of our free time is spent either at athletic fields, or spending time as a family.  We love soccer, lacrosse, skiing, and being together with our extended family at the beach.

I spend so much time outdoors watching my own kids play their sports, watching other family members at their athletic events, or just spending time at the park with my kids, and ORORO helps me do that for longer on a much more regular basis.  I'm also an avid runner, and having been through one marathon training season in the middle of winter, I'm psyched that this year's winter long runs prepping for spring half marathons will be a lot more comfortable.

Reason to join the ORORO Squad

I did a lot of research, felt it had the best reviews and customer service reviews, the strongest seeming company.

What’s your favorite thing about ORORO?

How brilliantly effective it is against New England cold, ease of use, multiple methods of battery charge, battery life, convenience of using more than one battery, etc.

What are the best 3 words to describe yourself?

Mom, Volunteer, Athlete

Please share a short story about an important challenge that you've overcome (in your life, hobby, or profession):

When I was pregnant with my son, in 2014, I managed to tear my ACL in my right leg.  It was devastating, and I was terrified for what it would mean as someone who was used to being active. Worse still, I couldn't have it repaired until after I had my little guy.  So for nine months, I rehabbed enough to walk around and keep up, albeit wobbly, with my daughter.  Following the surgery I worried that I wouldn't return to any of my old activities, as I had been limited for so long.  Fortunately, with the help of amazing PT, and my family, I went from a fully useless knee to running the Boston Marathon in 2019, along with two half marathons a year from 2017.   Most importantly, I was able to return to skiing in 2018 and am back to my favorite trails all over New England. In fact, the first thing I did when I got my ORORO socks was run to make sure the battery pack could fit between my knee brace and my ski boot — it does!
