My name is Lauren Engeman. I am a fourth-year veterinary student at the University of Missouri with a long-term dream of practicing equine sports medicine on the East Coast after graduation. In my limited free time, I enjoy jumping horses, creating art, lifting weights, and spending time with my fiancé. Being from the Midwest, I work and play in all types of weather. If I am not in the teaching hospital, I can usually be found hanging out in a barn.
Reason to join the ORORO Squad
I am a fourth year veterinary student entering a career in Equine Medicine in Connecticut. This means I will spend everyday outdoors in a wide range of weather! I needed something to provide some extra heat so I can stay focused on helping my patients and not on freezing.
What’s your favorite thing about ORORO?
Even suturing a wound in the snow in an area with no electricity, I can stay warm for hours with ORORO’s heated jackets and vests.
What are the best 3 words to describe yourself?
Driven. I never sit still and am always working towards my goals
Neon. I am bright, bold, and usually have a lot going on!
Hardworking. I rarely back down from a challenge and find satisfaction in a job well done
Please share a short story about an important challenge that you've overcome (in your life, hobby, or profession):
Riding horses while in veterinary school usually requires 2 things most students do not have: time and money. Despite this, I have continued to pursue my hobby to the fullest extent, even showing at the national level while in school. Never a horse owner and always a horse borrower, I work for riding time and frequently exercise young training projects with other riders in my area. I can frequently be seen at shows with a textbook in hand between my classes.
