No, the apparel cannot generate heat without a battery. The battery provides the power needed for the heating elements to generate heat. If you don't have any ororo battery, we strongly suggest you to buy with the battery set for heating.

Size change made a difference
Fargo Heated Flip Top Mittens - Unisex Black / 2XL
Went from a large to a 2XL. Fit is much better. Heat is good. Not sure if I like the half fingers sewn into the mit. It bunches up when you take them off. Others have said it is hard to get them under or over a coat sleeve. Could be a good place for a side zipper for on and off ezability. Other than that, I like them for my intended purpose.

Measurements are off
Fargo Heated Flip Top Mittens - Unisex Black / L
Too small. Used recommended size on chart which was a L. Too cramped and tight. Going to try the 2X and how the fit works. XL size is out of stock so may have to wait till stock is replenished. Will see. I would have liked them more if they fit. Looked nice.

Great but size up
"Fargo" Heated Flip Top Mittens - Unisex Black / S
I love these gloves! Very warm specially in your fingers all around which other Ororo gloves do not have. Very handy the fact that you can take the mitten off. One disappointing thing is that they are extremely tight on the bottom, I feel they should be more elastic as much as to cover your jacket sleeve otherwise your hand is not fitted all the way to the fingers. Also the thumb is very small when uncovered and the fabric is so tight around it that it strangles it a bit, I could feel my thumb going numb not because of the cold but because of lack of blood flow. Other than those details these gloves are great! Love them

Fargo heated flip top mitts
"Fargo" Heated Flip Top Mittens - Unisex Black / S
While I am 100% happy with my purchase, I do need to suggest an upgrade. The small fits me perfectly in the fingers and mitt area, the cuff on the other hand is somewhat tight. It’s difficult to pull the mitts on and the cuff is too small MM go over the sleeve of my coat and therefore needs to go under the sleeve. A bigger/roomier cuff or a side zipper on the cuff part only would be helpful. I’ve not worn the mitts on some of my walks feeling that the tugging and pulling isn’t worth it. Maybe I just don’t know how to put them on correctly, if that’s the case please enlighten me. I DO LOVE my finger tops to be warm on these cold MN mornings and evenings when I walk my dog! So when I wear them, I love them. I’m female and ordered men’s small mitts as I don’t have large hands.
