No, the apparel cannot generate heat without a battery. The battery provides the power needed for the heating elements to generate heat. If you don't have any ororo battery, we strongly suggest you to buy with the battery set for heating.

Was at a golf tournament in NORTH GA October 30 and 31. The temperature was from 42 to 50+ degrees. The vest was barely warm. Did not keep my torso warm. Kept having to turn back on. It dies after 2 hours. The battery life was much lower than advertised. I want a refund. Very disappointed.

I love this vest. It is thinner than some of the other styles but for a nice crisp fall day or even layered in the winters its a winner! I really like the white because it can be styled with a lot of different colors. Definitely add this to your collection!
