Warm Handler, Warm Dogs: Chasing Flyball Wins Across Twenty States

Adriana Nottestad · Dog Sport Competitor and Trainer

It was a chilly January in New York, and Adriana was in the ring at Westminster with her flyball team. They won their division, and she did it with her ororo vest keeping her warm.

That’s the kind of day her ororo gear is built for. Agility and flyball competitions start early, often when it’s coldest, and Adriana has competed with her dogs in more than twenty states, and her gear has made every trip.

Dog sports are a team effort, so staying warm is too. Adriana thinks about it from both ends of the leash.

For the Handler
Adriana’s gear comes along “to early morning events and late night classes with the dogs, and also on our cold morning hikes.”

On competition days, the early start is the hard part. “We use it for dog sport events, such as agility and flyball, in the colder months. Our start times are very early in the morning when it’s really cold!”

For the Dogs

Her dogs are athletes, and they need to stay loose between runs just like any competitor. That’s why her favorite ororo product isn’t one she wears herself.

“I love the heated dog vests so I can make sure my dogs stay as warm as I am, and my dogs clearly love them too.”

The vests are part of the routine on competition day. “We wear our coats during warm-up exercises before running, and in between runs to keep our muscles from getting stiff.”

“We’ve competed in over twenty different states and I always make sure to pack it!"
