No, the apparel cannot generate heat without a battery. The battery provides the power needed for the heating elements to generate heat. If you don't have any ororo battery, we strongly suggest you to buy with the battery set for heating.

The fit is great. Finally, a coat with decent sleeve length and the just past the hip coverage in the coat length is perfect. I asked for a heated vest last year for Christmas and have been so pleased with it that I was considering a coat. I'm a bus driver and it can get pretty cold in my 'corner office' on a winter day. My zipper was failing in my favorite coat, so it was all the confirmation I needed to go ahead and get an ORORO heated coat. I recommend your products all the time! Very pleased with all my ORORo products.
